Classic Game Room HD – THE DARK SPIRE for Nintendo DS review
Classic Game Room HD reviews THE DARK SPIRE for the Nintendo DS. This handheld RPG for the Nintendo DS harks back to the days of monochromatic computer monitors, old school 286 computers and clicky keyboards. The Dark Spire is one of the best new games to come out for Nintendo DS, developed by Success and published by Atlus. This CGRHD review of The Dark Spire has gameplay footage from The Dark Spire on Nintendo DS being played in High Definition. Watch game play of this old school style ...

Reminds me of Orcs and Elves for DS… I should get this and that game again.
$10
Just ordered this on Amazon… Reminds me of all the hours I spent playing those old Ravenloft games and those top down Dark Sun games.
This game is truly engrossing game. I have been playing this game for well over 30 hours, and it never gets old. There is a greater emphasis on decision making once you reach the prestige classes, and even taking on huge hordes of enemies is awesome. If you have a DS and want a great role playing game, this is the one. Kudos
It is probably the best deal you can get if you want a good rpg cheap.
The Gamestops in IN sell them for $9 used and $10 new. I got the game and the CD for a good price, which is unfortunate because that means the game doesn’t sell very well since it just came out in April. I doubt we’ll be seeing more games like this anytime soon…
respond and let me know if you like it please cuz it looks cool
Thanks for this awesome review! This and the IGN review are the only two that said right out that this game is the sh!t.
I also liked your statements about games today compared yesterday — I’m not really even from the ‘old’ pc rpg generation and I prefer this!
say what you want about anime styled drawing, etrian odyssey was amazing XD
That is an awesome party you’ve described. XD
huh, this game looks quite awesome, though personally if im gonna go basic I prefer to go even more basic than this, I liked D&D but hated the complexity, iv actually been developing a game almost just like it accept way simpler that I call Chance, it uses only D6′s and has 40 classes with no races, its quite awesome though a recent computer crash deleted it, oh well, thisl be the second time iv had to start over, it was nothing more than some word documents anyways, I best get to writing
thank u so much for your reviews if it weren’t for them i would have never bought tokyo beat down and dark spire i love both these games a feel like i would have really missed out with out them
When you break it down, this is what really makes a great and memorable game.
Wait… you’re making a game? I’d love to see a game like that, I hate all those ”this race has these classes and these effect, that race has that classes and those effects etc.” and then they go on with about 6 races. If it’s ready I really want to check it out.
ya I am, actually it WAS coming fairly close to completion, unfortunatly though I had to start over when my old computer with all of the game stuff on it died, I had everything written down in word document on that thing so when it died I lost everything, if u can keep in touch with me I will let u know when its done, im going to post it on a website when its finished and I need people to test it to see if its easily playable as well as to report things I need to clarify and fix
This game has tons of delicious, delicious flavor text. I just got it yesterday, and am in love with it thus far. See i played Wizardry on my uncle’s old DOS, Ultima and Final Fantasy on my own NES, and have partaken in DnD. This game is perfect form me, and I love both modern an classic modes.
I saw that you using a battleaxe. Use an estoc instead – it does WAY more damage despite that it is 150 gold cheaper
That goes for all those weapon types, like Rapier and so on.
My only complaint to this game is that the UI is inconsistent and sometimes punishing. It would have been nice to have the map with an arrow on the bottom screen when moving too, like Etrian Odyssey.
This game looks like it would be great to play and a much better play then any Anime influenced RPG (yes, that means Final Fantasy). Strictly an American affair.
I cant figure out how to use the map i cant find my sealf on the map can any one help lol
that is motherfucking AMAZING. thank you ATLUS for making games liek this possible!
i have this game its hard but its so great but the best thing about is the music!
This is one game where you can’t trust number reviews because it breaks their grading scales. If you like old school dungeon crawlers like NetHack, you will like this game. Period.
