‘Team Fortress 2′ WAR! Updates Continue, Here’s What We Have So Far

UPDATE: The war between the Demoman and the Soldier has ended, with the latter taking the prize. That prize? Gunboats. These boots midigate the damage of rocket jumping, allowing Soldiers to get that extra boost up without having to take a chunk out of their hit points.
Valve also revealed two new maps, which you can check out here.
Original Story: If you're a fan of "Team Fortress 2," the coming days and weeks will be all milk and honey, as the latest major update, entitled WAR!, will be adding plenty of new doodads with which to eviscerate the enemy team. Since there's been a whole lot of news over the last week, I thought it might be a good idea to give you the rundown of what we've got so far.
Demoman vs. Soldier
The corner stone of this update surrounds the Demoman and the Soldier, as all of the new weapons being added are exclusive for them. There will be 3 new items for each, but a 4th, secret item will be unlocked for just one of them, depending on which class kills more of the other throughout the week. Currently the Soldier is leading with 5,742,720 Demomen killed, whereas the Demomen have killed 5,727,928 Soldiers. It's going to take a significant rally from the Demomen to pull this one out.
New Demoman Weapons
The Scottish Resistance - A new sticky launcher which can fire 8 remote bombs instead of 4. Even cooler, you can choose which bombs to blow by looking straight at them, allowing you to defend a room even more effectively.
The Eyelander - A giant, Scottish sword which saps the player's heath, but every time you chop someone's head off with it, you'll get a boost in speed and health. Nifty!
The Chargin' Targe - An old-timey wooden shield which allows the Demoman to charge ahead at a target, at speeds even faster than the scout. Paired with The Eyelander will net you some nice crit bonuses.
New Soldier Weapons
The Direct Hit - Instead of relying on splash damage from rockets, The Direct Hit does considerably more damage, but only if the rocket strikes the target directly. To make up for the lack of splash damage, its rockets fly 80% faster and will result in mini-crits if you hit mid-air targets.
The Equalizer - A pickax that deals more damage as you take damage. Not very useful at full health, but if you're down to your last 5 hit points you'll be a melee force to be reckoned with.
The Buff Banner - Adds a rage meter to the Soldier which, when full, allows you to pull out a bugle and buff nearby allies, allowing them to deal mini-crits for 14 seconds.
Crafting
If you're not a big fan of playing as either the Soldier or the Demoman, you'll be happy to know that there's still something new coming your way. Crafting will allow you to turn all that junk in your inventory into nifty new objects such as hats and even weapons.
35 New Achievements
Plenty of new achievements for you to collect for the two classes, some of which sound pretty impossible. For example: "Kill an enemy soldier while both you and the target are airborne." Yikes.
